Augmented in-store Experience and Increased Sales with CloudTags, SureFox and SureMDM
CloudTags is an Atlanta-based data start-up working with brick-and-mortar retailers to connect their digital and physical customer experiences.
CloudTags' technology allows in-store customers to create digital collections of everything they interact with by using location based devices that are provided by the retailer. It creates omni-channel customers by engaging them digitally (in-store) and increasing identification prior to checkout. After leaving the store, advanced predictive models use this data to increase customer engagement and sales. Based on their clients' objectives, they can drive purchases online or drive customers back to the store.
Challenges
CloudTags uses Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to allow shoppers to digitally interact with physical products using tablets provided in the store, delivering product information, reviews and recommendations as the shopper browses. This means a tablet with internet access in the hands of shoppers.
Tablets and smartphones with all their features and connectivity to internet are susceptible to misuse, often compromising the device security. Ensuring that shoppers access product related information, reviews and recommendations and not any other unrelated content from the web was one of the big challenges for CloudTags.
CloudTags' primary requirements were protecting the tablet settings from intentional and unintentional changes by the shoppers, ability to track and locate a device and lock it remotely in case it was stolen from the store. Since the plan was to deploy multiple devices in different stores at different locations, there was a need for a platform that would allow centralized control and real time monitoring of devices.
CloudTags wanted to ensure that tablets were secure and fit for use at all times. They wanted to restrict shoppers from using unauthorized applications or browsing unapproved web content.
Solutions
After rigorous verification and testing, CloudTags chose SureFox and SureMDM for the pilot phase. CloudTags was happy with the features and performance of the products and decided to deploy them across all customer locations.
SureFox helped CloudTags lock down the tablets with access to only allowed web pages. It also helped password protect device and lockdown settings. Restricting access of SureFox settings to the admin through a password ensured that no one could change the device settings even inadvertently.
Deploying SureMDM with SureFox in their solution helped CloudTags manage SureFox settings and all tablets remotely from a centralized MDM web console. Apart from adding or removing allowed websites on the tablets remotely, they were also able to track, locate and secure devices from any remote location.
Results
The intuitive workflows of SureFox and SureMDM ensured that there was a very small effort in learning and subsequent deployment of CloudTags solution. The solution has ensured that while CloudTags' customers benefit from innovative use of tablets, they do not have to spend a lot of effort in protecting deployed tablets from misuse. They are now empowered to focus on the core business than worrying about safety and up-time of devices.
